The 200000 t/a syngas to ethylene glycol industrial demonstration plant of Sinopec Hubei chemical fertilizer company was started in Zhijiang, Hubei Province on August 30
it is understood that the total investment of the project is 2billion yuan. It is planned to use the surplus syngas from the existing Shell pulverized coal gasification unit to produce ethylene glycol using the syngas to ethylene glycol technology independently developed by SINOPEC. It mainly constructs cryogenic separation of syngas, syngas to ethylene glycol, dilute nitric acid treatment, by-product recovery, supporting environmental protection facilities, utilities and auxiliary projects. The project covers an area of 200 mu and is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2013. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to produce 200000 tons of ethylene glycol per year and achieve an output value of 1.7 billion yuan.
